Mail Notifr sunset on March 8th, 2024.

As this app needs to access Gmail restricted APIs, it's required to complete a CASA security assessment, which is a progress I could NOT get through.

I've decided to make the end of its service. Sorry, and thank you.

Maybe you can update even to macOS 14.3 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

Hello, is there a way to download the 1.3.5 version that is compatible with OS 10.5?
I have been using the old 0.9.0 version until now in but it stopped working after updating from 10.4 to 10.5 (and I cannot update to 11).

EDIT:
I was able to download it from the App Store. It did not let me download it from the main page (the latest version is not compatible) but it was in my purchased list and from there it did download the latest compatible version.

Sorry currently it only supports a fixed set of (built-in) sound all the macOS versions have.

I'd love a way to set a custom notification sound. I've got a few custom alert sounds set in system preferences but those do not appear available to use in Notifr. Is that something that could appear later?

I also see "& quot;" (no space after "&") in place of just " (double quote). Seems like the text of the message isn't properly html-unescaped.

Hi🤗👋🏻 Firstly, I love your little app - its great, thank you! Ive used for many years, and have just got a MacBook Air with new OS Ventura.
On the notifications, the text is now displaying a bit oddly (code, as it's not liking inverted commas)
i.e. "Don't" instead of Don't and "You've" instead of "You've. Do you know if this is something wrong on my new laptop, or if it's a general bug?

Yes, for 10.10 and 10.12, it is 1.3.5 since your requirement for v2 is OS11, which is the brand new OS. I am looking into app-specific, which, from what I am reading, may not be going away. I just hadn't needed it until now. It does require 2FA, though, which I hesitate to ever use unless I have to.

I have found another non-Gmail solution in the meantime, but it's in-browser vs. your full application one, which I preferred.

And thanks for this app and its predecessor. They have been very helpful. I am sorry to have to give it up for now.

Hey Susan what version of Mail Notifr are you using? 2.0.0 and above now uses OAuth which I think should be working. 1.3.5 has to use application specific password, which Google said they would drop support anytime. So unfortunately as you're on 10.1x you can't update to 2.0.0 to use the new oauth method required by Google.
I'm sorry I'm not able to update 1.3 version to support oauth and 10.10.

Hi. Suddenly I am no longer getting notification sounds on my 10.10
laptop (which is the one I use most). I also get the 'name/pwd wrong'
message, but I can open the inbox, so clearly the app knows it isn't
wrong. I do not use 2FA. Any thoughts on why it would stop being able to check for new emails?

Update: also realized it isn't working on my 10.12 laptop either - same error - so Gmail must have changed something. I don't use notifiers on my newer laptops, so not sure about those.

Hi Alex, I believe you need to use an application specific password to use. I'm not aware of any recent changes to Gmail security requirement but if you have 2FA enabled that's it. Please refer to this for more info: https://support.google.com/....
Also sorry I can't make update to v1.x to support Google API or OAuth; unfortunately v2.x requires macOS 11 and above.

Hi, I'm running v1.3.5 (174) on macOS 10.15.7. It's been working amazingly for years, but all of a sudden now reports "Username/Password Wrong". I've confirmed that it's correct.
I don't remember if it stopped working when I upgraded my OS or when Google forced my account to 2FA. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

2.0 uses gmail api while the previous version used gmail atom feed. I think atom feed returns list of threads, while the api I use returns single messages.

It's not a bug but I'll take a look. Not sure if I'll switch the api to change this, though. Google app review process is too much pain if api usage change require re-verification.

Hello. I'm getting a new message indication for every response to an existing thread. For example, I have two new conversation threads in Gmail and seven new messages.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't how Gmail Notifr worked until recently. Is this a bug, and if so, would you consider fixing it?

Yes there is a bug when handling zero messages. I have fixed this but please allow a few days before next release is out.

Hmmm. 2.0.2 seems to be making a sound every time it checks for mail, even when the unread count is 0. Are you seeing this?

After paying for it many years ago, I am not able to use this anymore sadly after the 2.0 update. It now tells me I need to re-auth and despite doing so (several time), it works once and then displays the "Auth error - please reauthorize" message in the menu.

Perhaps you can add an option to go back to app-specific passwords? That worked perfectly.
